Styled Intentions 2023: Glamour Maverick
Rachel Zoe once said “Style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak.” The moment I heard those words, I clung to them. I loved them. And I realized fashion and style is that and so much more. It’s a wearable vision board, it’s a way to literally embody the vision of your future self, and it is a way to call in your dreams in a tangible way. Style allows us to get dressed in a feeling.
With summer right around the corner and my closet bursting at the seams with logo tees, crew neck sweatshirts, and a random assortment of pink heels, I found myself asking, “What am I trying to say?” I always strive to be uniquely me…a maverick. ‘Maverick’ is defined as “an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party.” Add a touch of glitter, sequins, and color, and we have my summer Styled Intention: Glamour Maverick.
What does this look like?
Well it all goes back to my love of vintage silhouettes, fun textures, the color pink, and my Sacred Style Planner. I designed this recently when I felt like my own sense of self and style had gone the way of the buffalo. This workbook is for you if you have ever felt unlike yourself in your own wardrobe, like your outside didn’t reflect your inner being, but you are ready to start living in alignment with true, clear action and styled intentions.

I am continuously drawn to the 1950s pinup aesthetic. The first time I discovered this was when my dad took me to a rockabilly car show when I was about 15. It was like I had stepped onto the set of the movie Grease, and I was instantly smitten with the idea of fashion outside of the brands I had been brought up on. The women looked so amazing, and something about that style instilled a confidence in myself. Add a little glitter, a lot of jewelry, a dash of ‘70s, and some pops of pastel hair color, and we’ve arrived at my Glamour Maverick aesthetic.

A Glamour Maverick is at home in a silk nightgown as a dress as she is holding a moon circle for her closest friends so they can burn away things that are no longer servicing them. She writes down her dreams when she wakes up, reaches for the fashion tabloids, and knows that Gemini season is not complete without a signature lip color.
