Style Tips I Learned While Traveling

Even the best laid plans can get away from us. As I was packing my bag to photograph an intimate Denver wedding I thought I had done a great job of picking out all my outfits, making note of what was going to be worn with what and on which day.

Let me tell you, the only thing I truly wore was a variation of the same outfit everyday and the actual dress I had packed for the wedding. I had assumed the weather would be similar to Los Angeles, boy was I wrong! Even through the temperatures looked the same on my weather app, Denver was substantially warmer, so there went about half my choices.

Lessons Learned:

  • So if you think you’re over packing, you probably are.

  • Leave room in your luggage for shopping or surprise gifts!

  • Make sure to have two pairs of comfortable shoes

  • Try to make outfits out of two bottom options, so you just bring a variety of tops to mix and match with

  • Pack layering options

  • Using travel cubes to keep everything separate would have made my life so easier

  • Be sure to pack your shoes in their own bags

  • Check everything and just walk on with a small backpack containing your wallet, necessities and your laptop

  • Personal preference, but for sake of weight and rolling it around I wish I had used my medium luggage piece and not my largest one.

Happy travels!
